Privacy Policy

Last updated 3 August 2026

The TQ Diagnostic at tqdiagnostic.com is operated by Influence Ecology, LLC (“Influential U®,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you take the diagnostic, why, and the choices you have.

Your result is delivered by email, so an email address is required. We say so on the landing page before you start. Signing up for our follow-up emails is a separate, optional choice — you can decline it and still receive your full result.

How your result reaches you

Your answers are scored on our servers. The result is not shown on the page: we email you a private link to it, and that link contains a one-off access key so that only someone with the email can open your result. Two things follow from that, and both are deliberate:

  • The link does not expire. You can bookmark it and come back to your result whenever you like. If you would rather it did not exist, ask us to erase your record and it stops working.
  • If the address was wrong, you can fix it. From the confirmation screen you can have the email sent again, or send it to a corrected address. Correcting the address issues a new key and retires the old link, so a result that went to the wrong inbox cannot be opened from it.

We do this so that the address you give us has to be one you can actually reach. It is also why we cannot show your result on the page instead: the email is the delivery, not a receipt for it.

What we collect

  • Your responses. The answer you choose for each of the 15 questions, how long each question takes you to answer, and the order the answer options were shown to you.
  • Technical context. Your browser family, the page that referred you, and any campaign parameters (UTM) in the link you followed. We do not store your IP address.
  • A page-view count. When the landing page loads, it records that a visit happened, along with your browser family, the host that referred you and any campaign parameters. This is a counter, not a profile: it is not linked to you, to your answers, or to any diagnostic you go on to take, and it sets no cookie. It tells us how many people arrive versus how many start.
  • Your email address and first name — required to send you your result. The diagnostic is scored on our servers and your result is emailed to the address you give us, with a permanent link back to it. A last name and country are optional. We also record your browser’s time zone, which we use only to show the date you took the diagnostic in your own local time.

How we use it

  • To calculate your result and email it to you — your Personality in Transaction™ type and your position on the High-Low TQ Spectrum™.
  • To give you a durable link back to your own result, so it keeps working if you bookmark or revisit it.
  • To improve the diagnostic itself, using anonymized, aggregated response data (for example, spotting questions that confuse people or scoring patterns that need rebalancing). This anonymized behavioral data is retained for analysis and never includes your name or email.
  • Only if you tick the optional consent box, to send you a short follow-up series about your result. If you leave it unticked, we do not add you to that series and your contact details are not sent to our CRM at all. If you decline and later change your mind, your result page offers you the choice again — that is the only way it is ever asked twice, and taking it is entirely up to you.

Why we are allowed to use it

  • To deliver the result you asked for — performance of the service you requested. This is why the email address is required rather than optional: without it there is nothing to send the result to.
  • To improve the diagnostic — our legitimate interest in a well-calibrated instrument, using data that no longer identifies you.
  • To send you the follow-up series — your consent, given by ticking a box that starts unticked. You can withdraw it at any time, and withdrawing does not affect your result or your link to it.

Automated scoring

Your result is produced automatically from your answers. There is no human review in the process, and no decision is made about you that has any legal or financial effect — it is a self-assessment of how you tend to operate in exchanges, not an assessment used to grant or refuse you anything. If you would like a person to look at your result, or you want it deleted, ask us.

Cookies and storage

The diagnostic uses your browser’s temporary session storage to move you through the questions, and to note that the landing page has already been counted once so a reload is not counted again. Both entries are cleared when you close the tab. It does not set advertising or tracking cookies. Our support-chat widget (OpenWidget) may set its own cookies. It runs on the landing page. On the results page it does not load during a normal visit — it loads only if we could not deliver your result or you have used up your resends, so that you can reach a person; if that never happens to you, it never loads. The quiz, this page and the terms page do not run it at all.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. The links on your result page are short links (Bitly), so a click is counted by Bitly as well as taking you where you asked to go. To deliver your result we send your email address and first name to Azure Communication Services, Microsoft’s email service. This happens whether or not you consent to marketing, because it is how the result reaches you. Your contact details are sent to our CRM (Keap) only if you tick the optional consent box. If you leave it unticked, nothing about you is sent there. Anonymized, non-identifying usage data is processed with Microsoft Azure analytics tooling.

Where your data goes

We are based in the United States and your data is stored and processed there:

  • Microsoft Azure (Central US region) — hosting, the database that holds your response record, and the service that sends your result email.
  • Keap (United States) — our CRM, and only if you consented to the follow-up series.
  • Bitly (United States) — the outbound links on your result page are short links, so that we can see which of the onward routes people find useful. If you click one, Bitly records the click. If you don’t click, Bitly receives nothing about you.

If you are in the UK or the EU, this means your personal data is transferred outside your country. We are documenting the specific safeguards that apply to each of these transfers and will state them here once confirmed. In the meantime, if you would like to know exactly what applies before you take the diagnostic, ask us and we will tell you what we have.

How long we keep it

Anonymized response data — your answers, timings and score, with no name or email attached — is kept for instrument-quality analysis. It is what tells us which questions confuse people.

Your contact details are treated differently depending on the choice you made:

  • If you consented to the follow-up series, we keep your email and name while you are subscribed, because that is what we are using them for. Unsubscribe at any time from the link in any email we send you.
  • If you declined, we keep them only as long as we need them to get your result to you and to let you re-send it if the address was wrong. After that we remove your email and name from the record and keep the anonymized answers.
  • Either way, you can ask us to erase them now and we will. Doing so retires your result link.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including the UK/EU under GDPR and California under CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data, and to withdraw consent. To make a request, email our privacy team. When you request erasure, we delete your contact record from our email system and remove your email and first name from our diagnostic records; the anonymized answers you gave may be retained for analysis, since they no longer identify you.

Changes

We may update this policy as the diagnostic evolves. The “last updated” date above reflects the current version.
